In three stories that span two thousands years — a grieving mother, a tormented mystic, and a fearless child each discover the same secret — the Eucharist changes everything

Anthology

Anthologies explore a theme from multiple story perspectives. This gives anthologies deep thematic resonance.

The Godbread anthology gives us a picture of the Eucharist that is thematically rich and timeless. It presents 3 different heroines who speak 3 different languages in 3 different time periods, but who all discover the same truth:

THREE stories united by ONE theme.

The Eucharist is everything.

The Godbread anthology shows Christ’s never failing promise:

I’m with you always.

In ancient Jerusalem, Mary and the apostles grieve the loss of Jesus after the crucifixion. But they remember the promise of the "Bread of Life." Could Jesus actually be alive in the Eucharist?

In 17th century France, Margaret Mary Alacoque receives Communion and begins to have visions of Jesus. But she first must sacrifice everything before He can reveal His Sacred Heart.

In 1950s Beijing, communist forces desecrate a church and imprison the priest inside. But as he tries to escape he sees a little girl risk her life to receive the scattered hosts. As she nears her death, he’s forced to reckon with his own belief in the Real Presence.

Three eras. Three languages.
One promise.

“I’m with you always.”

Three women. Three cultures.
One truth.

Mother

Mystic

Martyr

The Eucharist is everything.

Three stories with one earth- shattering question.

If this bread truly becomes God...

do we dare to live as if it’s true?

He is here!

What if a piece of bread actually becomes God?

If the Eucharist is false, Catholics are crazy.
But if it’s true, it changes everything.

What can make up for the loss of a child?
What is the ultimate source of happiness?
What is worth more than life itself?

The Eucharist

The Eucharist is everything. The one great thing to love on earth.

Awe and wonder

The tone is bold and unflinching. This isn’t another “feel good” faith-based film. The stories resist easy answers—because the truth is too enormous, it doesn’t fit in our safe, curated lives. Viewers will be shaken to the core.

The “shock” in these stories isn’t horror—it’s biblical awe. The kind of holy terror that brings mortals to the ground when they encounter the living God.

Visually, Godbread draws from the controlled, meditative style of filmmakers like Mel Gibson (The Passion of the Christ). Every frame is intentional. The pace is contemplative and unhurried—like the pacing and rhythm of praying the Rosary.
